I have always had a thing for vintage style cutlery and I’ve been looking for something cool and quirky for some time now. A few months ago I was browsing on Yuppiechef (an awesome online kitchen store) and I stumbled upon Laguiole by Andre Verdier. It was definitely love at first sight! I’d finally found the vintage style cutlery that I had been dreaming about. The bonus was that it came in an amazing variety of colors.
I had never heard of Laguiole knives or cutlery before that chance encounter (possibly because I live in South Africa or because I’m not a very savvy cutlery connoisseur!). It’s handmade in France, by some of the best designers in the world. Each piece of cutlery art is adorned with their trademark little bee (I love this touch of quirkyness).
So here’s my collection, so far (my fiance will kill me if he reads this!), which consists of Andre Verdier’s colonial mix color palette.
My lovely red cake forks.
Ivory coffee spoons.
Cheese knife set (because I LOVE cheese!).
Last, but certainly not least, the famous Laguiole steak knives!
The next Laguiole item on my wish list is Jean Dubost’s 24 piece pastel cutlery set (yes, yes, I know that I’ll end up with 12 knives and 12 coffee spoons, but that’s not a bad thing, right?). I am now completely obsessed with Laguiole!
